NEW OPERATING STATUS INFORMATION FOR 2012/2013

When SEVERE WEATHER is predicted or has begun, the FEB Severe Weather Committee makes a recommendation as quickly as possible regarding Federal operations (see below) for severe weather conditions/events.   Agency heads must call the FEB weather advisory message service (number is o¬nly for agency heads) for the information and then implement their internal employee notification system as they see fit.  Agency heads must contact the FEB Executive Director for this number. A Tele-work option has been added as an option.

Operating status notifications are made o¬n the following stations beginning on or about 5 am:

WBAL Radio 1090 on the AM dial.
WTOP Radio 103.5 FM, 103.9 FM & 107.7 FM
WBAL TV – Broadcast Air CHANNEL 11 or cable/FIOS equivalent.
WJZ TV – Broadcast Air CHANNEL 13 or cable/FIOS equivalent.

Television announcements will show ‘Federal Executive Board Agencies’ or just ‘Federal Executive Board’

• Code Red – Closed to the public – Tele-work encouraged.
• Code Yellow – Opening at 10 am and/or “Unscheduled leave or Unscheduled Tele-work.
• Code Blue – Open at Noon and/or Unscheduled leave or Unscheduled Tele-work.

Radio announcements will be similar.  Employees, who are unable to report for duty due to local weather conditions, must contact their director/manager/supervisor if they must use unscheduled leave or unscheduled Tele-work. For Codes Yellow & Blue, Emergency Employees must report on time.

OPM advisories for Federal Government agencies in Washington, DC do not apply to the Baltimore metropolitan area agencies.

An early dismissal during working hours will be announced by the FEB if appropriate. Call FEB for advice.

Not all Baltimore Metropolitan Area federal agencies participate in this plan.  Employees check with their manager/supervisor if their agency participates in the Federal Executive Board (FEB) Inclement Weather Plan and subsequent media announcements.

Employees residing outside the immediate Baltimore Metropolitan commuting area (e.g., Pennsylvania, Southern Maryland or Washington, DC) should discuss notification procedures and requirements with their manager, supervisor or agency head.   Agency heads are the final authority for directing an agency specific early release.
